What is a Kitchen stove anti-tip bracket? It is a bracket that slips over the leg of the Kitchen stove as it is slid into position. This keeps the stove from tipping if weight, such as a young child, is on the door when in the open position. Anti-tip brackets are safety devices that started showing up in the late 1980s and became required by appliance manufacturers in 1991. As a home inspector on thing i check to see if one has been installed and if so was it installed properly. Most often i find that it was never installed. I have found them a few times still in the bag with the owner’s manual or installed into just the drywall and not into the stud or wall bottom plate.

This bracket is cheap insurance to keep the stove from injuring a young child or even death.
